COOKIE – GENERAL INFORMATION

1. Cookies

When you visit our website, cookies and similar storage technologies such as “pixels” (hereinafter referred to as “Cookies”) are installed on your computer. Cookies are small text files stored by your browser on your device to save certain information or image files such as pixels. If you visit the website again using the same device, the information stored in the cookies will be transmitted back to our website (“First-Party Cookies”) or to another website to which the cookies belong (“Third-Party Cookies”).

This website uses the following types of cookies, whose purposes and functions are explained below:

  • Strictly Necessary Cookies (Type A)
  • Functional and Performance Cookies (Type B)
  • Consent-Based Cookies (e.g., Marketing) (Type C)

Strictly Necessary Cookies (Type A)

Strictly necessary cookies ensure functionalities without which it would not be possible to use our web pages for their intended purpose. These cookies are used exclusively by L’Astrolabio and are therefore first-party cookies. This means that all information stored in these cookies is returned only to our website.

The use of strictly necessary cookies on our website does not require your consent. For this reason, they cannot be activated or deactivated individually. However, you can disable cookies in your browser settings at any time (see below).

Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR.

Functional and Performance Cookies (Type B)

Functional cookies allow our website to store previously provided information and offer improved and more personalised functionalities based on that information. These cookies collect and store only anonymous information, meaning they do not track activity across other websites.

Performance cookies collect information on how our website is used to improve its attractiveness, content, and functionality. These cookies help determine, for example, whether and which sub-pages of our website are visited and which content users are particularly interested in. Specifically, we record:

  • The number of visits to a page
  • The number of accesses to sub-pages
  • The time spent on our website
  • The order of pages visited
  • The search terms that led users to our site
  • The country, region, and city (if applicable) from which access occurs
  • The proportion of mobile devices accessing our website

Additionally, we track movements, clicks, and scrolling with the computer mouse to understand which areas of our website are of particular interest to users. This allows us to tailor website content more effectively to users’ needs and optimise our offerings.

The user’s IP address, which is transmitted for technical reasons, is automatically anonymised and does not allow conclusions to be drawn about individual users.

You can change your cookie settings at any time.

Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR.

Consent-Based Cookies (Type C)

Cookies that do not fall under strictly necessary (Type A) or functional/performance cookies (Type B) will only be used with the user’s explicit consent, such as marketing cookies.

We also reserve the right to use information obtained via anonymous cookie analysis of visitor behaviour to display specific advertisements for certain products on our website. Marketing cookies come from external advertising companies (third-party cookies) and are used to collect information about the websites a user visits to create targeted advertising.

2. Managing and Deleting All Cookies

You can configure your web browser to generally prevent cookies from being stored on your device and/or to ask for consent each time before enabling cookies. You can also delete cookies at any time. Further details on how to do this can be found in your browser’s “Help” function.

Please note that disabling cookies may lead to functional limitations on our website.

2.1 Web Analytics – Google Analytics

This website uses Google Analytics, a web analytics service from Google Inc. (“Google”). Google Analytics uses a specific type of cookie that is stored on your computer and enables an analysis of website usage. The information generated by the cookie about the use of the website is generally transmitted to and stored on a Google server in the USA.

We have extended Google Analytics on this website with the code “gat._anonymizeIp();” to ensure that IP addresses are recorded anonymously (“IP masking”). With IP anonymisation on this website, Google shortens IP addresses within EU territory and EEA member states. In exceptional cases, the full IP address is transmitted to a Google server in the USA and then shortened there. Google is certified under the EU-U.S. Privacy Shield (https://www.privacyshield.gov/EU-US-Framework).

You can prevent cookies from being stored by adjusting your browser settings. Additionally, you can prevent Google from storing data related to your website use (including your IP address) by downloading and installing the browser plugin available at: Google Opt-Out.

This website also uses Google Analytics for cross-device visitor flow analysis, carried out via a user ID. Disabling cross-device tracking can be done in the Google Account under the section “My Information,” “Personal Information.”

Cookies used: Type B.

Cookie duration: Up to 12 months (applies only to cookies set by this website).
Maximum data storage period: Up to 50 months.
Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) f GDPR.

2.2 YouTube

We have integrated YouTube videos on our website, and they are stored on http://www.YouTube.com and can be played directly from our website. These videos are all embedded in “enhanced privacy mode,” which means no user data will be transmitted to YouTube unless the videos are clicked to start playing. Only when watching the videos will the data mentioned in the following section be transferred to YouTube. We have no control over this data transmission.

When visiting the website, YouTube receives information that the corresponding subpage of our website has been accessed. If you are logged into Google, this information will be directly associated with your account. If you do not want to be linked to your YouTube profile, you must log out before activating the button. YouTube stores data as a user profile and uses it for advertising purposes, market research, and/or demand-oriented website design. This analysis is carried out particularly to provide demand-oriented advertising and to inform other users of the social network about the user’s activities on our website. You have the right to object to the creation of these user profiles by contacting YouTube.

For more information on the purpose and scope of data collection and processing by YouTube, please refer to their privacy policy. Further information about your rights and settings to protect your privacy can be found at: https://www.google.de/intl/de/policies/privacy. Google has joined the EU-U.S. Privacy Shield: https://www.privacyshield.gov/EU-US-Framework.

2.3 Google Ads Tracking

We use Google Ads services to draw attention to our offers with advertising material on external websites. We can determine the success of individual advertising measures based on campaign data. Our interest is in displaying ads relevant to users, making our website more appealing, and achieving a fair calculation of advertising costs.

The advertising materials are provided by Google via so-called “Ad Servers.” For this purpose, we use ad server cookies, which allow us to measure certain parameters for success, such as ad placements or user clicks. When accessing our website via a Google ad, Google Ads stores a cookie on your device. These cookies usually expire after 30 days and are not intended to identify the user personally. Typical data stored in these cookies includes the unique cookie ID, the number of ad impressions per placement (frequency), last impression (relevant for post-view conversions), and opt-out settings (indicating the user no longer wishes to receive ads).

These cookies enable Google to recognise the internet browser used. If a user visits specific pages on an AdWords customer’s website and the stored cookie has not expired, Google and the customer can recognise that the user clicked the ad and was redirected to that page. Each AdWords customer receives a different cookie, preventing cookies from being tracked across different customers’ websites. We do not collect or process any personal data in these advertising measures. We only receive statistical evaluations from Google, which help us determine which advertising measures are particularly effective. We do not receive any further data from the use of advertising materials, and in particular, we cannot identify users based on this information.

Due to the marketing tools used, your browser automatically establishes a direct connection with Google’s server. We have no control over the scope and further use of the data collected through this tool by Google and therefore inform you based on our knowledge: By integrating AdWords Conversion Tracking, Google receives information that the user has viewed or clicked on a relevant part of our online presence. If you are registered with a Google service, Google may associate the visit with your account. Even if you are not registered or logged in to Google, it is possible for the provider to obtain and store your IP address.

You can prevent participation in this tracking process in various ways:
a) By adjusting your browser settings to block third-party cookies, preventing ads from external providers.
b) By disabling cookies for conversion tracking by setting your browser to block cookies from the domain www.googleadservices.com (this setting is deleted when cookies are cleared).
c) By opting out of interest-based ads from providers participating in the “About Ads” self-regulation campaign via http://www.aboutads.info/choices (this setting is deleted when cookies are cleared).
d) By permanently disabling them in Firefox, Internet Explorer, or Google Chrome at http://www.google.com/settings/ads/plugin.
e) By setting your cookie preferences accordingly.

For more information on the purpose and scope of Google’s data collection and processing, please refer to their privacy policy. Further details about your rights and settings to protect your privacy can be found at:
https://www.google.de/intl/de/policies/privacy. Google has joined the EU-U.S. Privacy Shield: https://www.privacyshield.gov/EU-US-Framework. Alternatively, further information is available on the Network Advertising Initiative (NAI) website at http://www.networkadvertising.org.

Cookies used: Type C.
Cookie duration: Up to 1 month (applies only to cookies set by this website).
Maximum data storage period: Up to 1 month.
Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) a GDPR.

2.4 Google Remarketing

Additionally, we use the Google Remarketing application to reconnect with users in the following months. With this application, after visiting our website, our ads may appear while browsing the internet. This is done via cookies stored in your browser, which track and evaluate user behaviour on different websites. This enables Google to identify previous visits to our website.

According to Google, the data collected through remarketing is not merged with personal data that Google may store. Specifically, pseudonymisation is used for remarketing purposes, according to Google.

Cookies used: Type C.
Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) a GDPR.

2.5 Facebook Custom Audiences (“Facebook Pixel”)

This website also uses the “Custom Audience” remarketing function from Facebook Inc. (“Facebook”) to deliver relevant content over the following six months. This allows website users to see interest-based ads (“Facebook Ads”) when visiting the social network Facebook or other websites using this tool.

Your browser automatically establishes a direct connection with Facebook’s server. We have no control over the extent and further use of the data collected by Facebook through this tool and inform you according to our knowledge: By integrating Facebook Custom Audiences, Facebook receives information that the corresponding page of our online presence has been accessed or that an ad was clicked. If you are registered with a Facebook service, Facebook may associate the visit with your personal account. Even if you are not registered or logged in to Facebook, the provider may obtain and store your IP address and other identifying information.

The “Facebook Custom Audiences” function can be disabled in the ad settings for registered users at: https://www.facebook.com/settings/?tab=ads#_.

Cookies used: Type C.
Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) a GDPR.
